With Vara, Laufen sets a new standard in the world of multifunctional fittings and redefines the enjoyment of water. Vara combines inspiring innovation, purist aesthetics, and maximum ease of use to create a unique experience.

Laufen is launching Vara, its first multifunctional faucet for private households—an outstanding product that offers the highest level of design, material quality, and functionality.

Aesthetics and functionality

Vara perfectly embodies Laufen’s unique style. Its appealing aesthetics and clear design language blend seamlessly into any environment. In addition to high-quality stainless steel, the faucet is also available with a durable PVD surface finish in matt titanium black. Furthermore, the control knob can either be integrated into the faucet body or positioned individually.

The practical pull-out spout is also particularly noteworthy. It consists of a 2-way hose that separates the standard mixed water and the chilled and sparkling water from the hot water. This design prevents hot residual water from flowing first when the fitting is used again after hot water has been used. This helps to prevent scalding.

Seven types of water to choose from

Vara is available in two versions for its market launch: All-in-One and Hot. The Hot version offers boiling water in three different temperatures in addition to regular water. The second variant, Vara All-in-One, is the only multifunctional faucet on the market that offers seven different types of water in an extremely compact system box – still, chilled, medium sparkling, strongly sparkling, and hot water at a choice of approximately 85, 92, or 96 degrees Celsius. The functional water is always filtered.

Intuitive operation with rotary knob

Instead of a display that can be challenging to use with wet or dirty hands, Vara relies on a clever rotary knob. This is positioned so that your hand is always outside the hot water when operating it. The operation itself is very intuitive: different colors indicate the various levels of hot, cold, and sparkling water. The hot water is additionally secured and must be unlocked by pressing and turning counterclockwise. For still, chilled, and sparkling water, on the other hand, a simple clockwise turn is sufficient.

Small and clever: the system box

The Vara system box is extremely compact. With this all-in-one solution, Laufen has succeeded in incorporating all seven functions into a single module measuring just 212 x 475 x 460 mm, which fits easily into almost any sink cabinet with a width of 60 cm or more. To make optimum use of the valuable storage space under the sink, Laufen has also collaborated with the professionals at Müllex and Peka to develop customized waste systems to match Vara. Both models feature a generous 40-liter waste bin and a practical lid that can also be used as a shelf.

Since the basic hot water temperature of approximately 80 degrees is heated in an open water heater, there is no risk of overpressure. The difference between the three preset hot water temperatures of 85, 92, and 96 degrees is generated with the aid of a continuous-flow heater.

The system box is equipped with a digital touch display that shows, among other things, the hot water and cooling temperatures, the fill level of the CO2 cylinder, and the current status of the filter. This means you can always see when a cylinder or filter needs to be replaced. The cold water temperature can be easily set between 5 and 15 degrees Celsius.

Thanks to the well-designed construction of the box, the filter and CO2 cylinder can be easily replaced from the front without removing the module. The exhaust air opening of the technical box is located at the bottom, while all connections are accessible from the rear.

High-quality filters and flavor-neutral CO2

Laufen uses high-quality, sustainable consumables for Vara. The Ultra water filter supplied ex works has three layers: a pre-filter for coarse particles up to 10 micrometers, a patented high-performance membrane for microparticles up to 0.3 micrometers, and an activated carbon filter made from natural coconut shells.

The CO2 cylinder also impresses sparkling water connoisseurs across the board: compared to standard models, the Vara cylinder has a special inner coating that keeps the water 100% neutral in taste. Returns and refills are handled in Switzerland.

Comprehensive service from professionals

While users can easily replace the water filter and CO2 cylinder themselves, the professionals at Laufen are always on hand to help with any other issues. Those who sign a maintenance contract benefit from an extended warranty period and receive annual maintenance service. During this service, the system is completely checked, hygienically cleaned, descaled, and updates are carried out. This enables Laufen to guarantee consistently excellent water quality and allows users to enjoy Vara for many years with the utmost convenience.
