Made for everyday use in the bathroom
Made for everyday use in the bathroom

With Meda, Laufen presents a bathroom collection that is reduced to the essentials, timelessly elegant and highly suitable for everyday use, forming a formal unit. And which feels familiar from the very first moment and fits into any environment.
The lively dialog between Peter Wirz and his specialists from the Vetica design studio gave rise to Meda with the claim “Made for Life”. Based on this idea, the designer created a complete range of washbasins, taps, bathtubs and furniture with characteristic shapes and maximum modularity that adapt to any bathroom environment and style.
Laufen’s commitment to a more sustainable future is characterized by the development of innovative materials and gentle production processes. However, it also includes the creation of intelligent and durable solutions that meet the highest standards in terms of quality, design, function and precision.
“Meda is a long-lasting companion and made for everyday use in the bathroom. For users: inside, this means that they can think about the future with a good feeling,” explains Peter Wirz and continues: “The serene, soft and gentle design of the new collection is the starting point for Laufen’s enhanced brand experience. In the face of hectic everyday life, many people are looking for peace and security. The design concept addresses this desire.”
Good to know: All bathroom objects can be staged both as stand-alones and in combination with design-related collections.
The defining elements in the Meda bathroom are the ceramic washbasins, which easily reflect the design principles of the collection. Their outer shape is emphasized by right angles and straight lines, while the inner lines play with large corner radii and gentle curves. This creates a harmonious effect and is also very easy to clean.
Other convenient features include the generous storage space for bathroom utensils and the all-round rim that prevents water from overflowing. Various sizes are available, from hand washbasins to double washbasins in glossy white, matt white or with a dirt-repellent LCC finish, as well as in matt graphite and matt black. A washbasin bowl with tap ledge on the left or right is also available. In addition, slimline cast mineral washbasins made of Marbond are available in glossy white and matt white, resting directly on the furniture.
This minimalist design is also reflected in the three bathtubs in the collection. The freestanding bath, the wall-mounted bath and the two corner baths for each side are made of glossy Marbond. A high-quality solid surface material that feels pleasantly natural. Despite their extremely slim walls, the baths have a discreetly integrated overflow. A practical feature of the wall-mounted baths is an integrated tap ledge on the wall, which also serves as a shelf for care products such as soaps and shampoos.
The freestanding bathtub in a two-tone design is a visual highlight: its exterior in traffic grey matt corresponds beautifully with the ceramic colors graphite matt and black matt. The inside is in glossy white.
Meda’s characteristic design language is also reflected in the taps. These combine a slim, cylindrical body with an elegant operating lever – which echoes the basic oval shape of the washbasins – and a wide spout. The latter integrates a jet regulator that produces a gentle, splash-free stream of water. The collection includes a diverse selection of taps for washbasins, bathtubs, showers and bidets that combine timeless design with state-of-the-art technology and meet the highest standards of functionality and quality. Elegant two-handle mixers and thermostatic shower and bath mixers are also available. All washbasin mixers and the bidet mixer meet the requirements of the “A” energy label from the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE).
Peter Wirz has developed a furniture collection to match Meda, which is perfectly coordinated with the corresponding washbasins. The vanity units have a clear, linear design with slim side panels, which is elegantly broken up at the front by a curved transition to the handle strip. The latter is made of aluminum and color-coordinated with the furniture surfaces. The soft-closing drawers with full-extension runners and high-quality fittings provide plenty of useful storage space for towels, cosmetics and care products and help to keep the bathroom perfectly organized: Because Meda’s elegant design only comes into its own in a tidy and space-optimized room. The inside of the drawers is in a modern anthracite color and also integrates an organizational aid. A matching tall cabinet provides even more space for towels and accessories.
The furniture also leaves nothing to be desired in terms of color: A wide selection of 43 colors and a wood finish in wild oak ensures that the furniture is compatible with almost all trendy furnishing styles. The bathroom furniture is manufactured in Europe. The wood materials used come from PEFC- and FSC-certified sources of European origin.
